Dental Community Assists in Disaster Relief for Nepal Earthquake Victims

In the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck approximately 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 25, the dental community has stepped up to the plate in offering assistance for the victims. Henry Schein, Ivoclar Vivadent, and the AVA Foundation are among the dental industry leaders contributing toward disaster relief.

Henry Schein will furnish requested provisions that include thousands of toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste in addition to more than two million surgical masks, a million pairs of gloves, and thousands of bandages. These healthcare product donations will be procured by a $500,000 pledge to assist with relief efforts.

Ivoclar Vivadent, who is teaming with Nepal Dental Association to assist in reinstalling dental care to victims, pledged $100,000 to the Red Cross for emergency relief.

The ADA Foundation is assisting the effort by accepting donations to aid dentists and others providing dental care to the victims.
